Dorian continues his investigation into the Garbage Killer. The trail of a missing book leads him to a former literary editor who has been institutionalized, whose past hides many horrors.

One thing leads to another, and Dorian finds himself confronted with the darkest corners of post-war Japan, against a backdrop of government conspiracy, war crimes, and nationalism.
