Pride Of Tamilnadu Artists

The galaxy of legends mentioned in the book are very very great. They are the pride of not only Tamilnadu but also the entire world of music. As a modest connoisseur of Carnatic music and fine arts, I salute these legends who have carved a niche in the hearts of millions of music lovers. I had the rare privilege of listening to the concerts at Thiagaraja Uthshavam at Karaikudi even when I was 10 years old. I make trip down my memory lane when the Centenary celebration of Sri Sankardas Swamigal at Madurai when I presented a paper about his contribution to Tamil drama. No one can forget concerts both vocal / instrumental of the following Jambavans.

Thiruvaduthurai Rajarathinam Pillai, Sheik Chinna Moulana, flute Mali, Veena maestro Balachandar, Chittibabu, Mridagam Palghat Mani Iyer, M.M. Dhandapani Desikar, Madurai Somu, Balamuralikrishna and others. We also remember A.P. Nagarajan for his taste Tamil dialogues and Sri Murugan devotee Chinnappa Thevar. We affectionately remember R.K. Laxman for his subtle humour cartoons and Sthapathi Gantapathy who made immortal statue of Gods. This book sheds light on the lives of these great men and the younger generation must emulate them.
