Out of Easterhouse

Scottish Cup-winning manager Bobby Williamson shares the remarkable story of his life, from growing up on the mean streets of Easterhouse – where ambitions rarely stretched beyond avoiding the razor gangs and finding work on a building site – to cup-final glory.

Written with Lorne Gardner, a renowned sports journalist with 30 years’ experience, this is the exclusive life story of one of football’s most colourful characters. It includes:

• Working with icons such as Jock Wallace, Graeme Souness, Ron Atkinson and Ron Saunders • The truth behind Bobby’s leg-breaking injury in Australia with Rangers, and the cover story concocted to protect the nascent career of an Ibrox legend – finally revealed after 40 years • Inside stories from Kilmarnock’s unforgettable 1997 Scottish Cup win • His Hibs nightmare, when he faced the wrath of fans almost from day one as the club slid into a financial crisis • The life-changing switch to Africa, when he risked everything to manage the Uganda national team; plus the move to Kenyan club side Gor Mahia, leading them to the title, and his ultimate move to become boss of Kenya • The cancer battle that became the toughest chapter of his life

A football story like no other, this is a must-read for all fans of Rangers, West Brom, Kilmarnock, Hibernian, Plymouth and Chester, as well as anyone with an interest in African football.
