Nor Iron Bars A Cage... is a science fiction novella by Randal Garrett first published in 1962. Iron bars do not confine a Man-only his body. There are more subtle, and more confining bindings, however.... Police methods of the future will naturally use complex new technology but police will still need to deal with the same old sad human nature, forever doing horrible deeds. The night stick may be replaced by the hypo-gun but is prison the only solution? Nor Iron Bars A Cage... was first published in Analog Science Fact & Fiction May 1962. Randall Garrett (1927-1987) was an American science fiction and fantasy author. He was a prolific contributor to Astounding and other science fiction magazines of the 1950s and 1960s. He instructed Robert Silverberg in the techniques of selling large quantities of action-adventure science fiction, and collaborated with him on two novels about Earth bringing civilization to an alien planet.
