No One's Kids of Bulgaria: Through My Eyes

“No one’s Kids of Bulgaria: Through My Eyes” is an authentic story about the feelings, impressions and view of a stranger about the children in the institutions of Bulgaria after the process of de-institutionalization. If you have always wanted to know how the children without parents live, but you have been afraid to visit them – this book will give you a hand, take you there, and in an easy and accessible way, will help you overcome one of your fears. It will show you the bright side of the dark side of the society.

This is a story that shows the other world – the world nobody wants to live in. A world that nobody sees but it exists. The dark side of the society, created by us. A side that nobody will ever show you because it is hard, because we are ashamed of it, and because we think it would infect us.

A world that the politicians and the officials in ministries, municipalities and agencies do not want to tell you about and admit that it exists. The fact that there are centers for children does not mean that they are happy and feel good there. Away from parents, country, society.

The authors of the book are you and me together – because this world is created by all of us. Because we participate in it, and we are part of every wrong that has been done. While we are silent and not acting, while we seek for benefits, while we support the system, there are children of nobody. Servants of survival. Nobody’s children. Nobody’s people.

This is a book where all the facts, people and events are real. Names have been changed to protect personal information.
