The day was here at last! She would be leaving Los Angeles and would soon be in Washington! Her husband Dave had been so understanding about the whole thing. Most husbands would have laughed at their wives upon hearing that their wife wanted to go to an exclusive acting school and study, but not Dave.

Throughout high school Connie had always landed the lead in plays, always playing the pert, young ingenue. After high school she had enrolled as a drama major in a local university. In her year and a half at the university, she discovered that studying acting in college was more for people who wanted to be teachers or scholars; the university lacked the nuts and bolts training that an actress needs. Many of her friends were suddenly landing jobs in commercials and plays in the area. The difference between Connie and her friends was, that while Connie had chosen the university to study acting, all of her friends had taken private training. This private training was so intensive that even the poorest actresses among her friends was able to get at least a bit part in a play. .
