Myths and Legends of Our Own Land

Myths and Legends of Our Own Land is a collection of stories from American folklore, compiled by Charles M. Skinner. The book includes tales from various regions of the United States, such as New England, the Midwest, and the South. The stories range from Native American legends to tales of ghosts, witches, and other supernatural beings. Some of the stories are based on historical events or figures, while others are purely fictional. The book offers a glimpse into the rich cultural heritage of America and provides insight into the beliefs and values of its people. The writing style is engaging and accessible, making it a great read for anyone interested in American history, folklore, or storytelling.1896. Our publication contains Volumes 1 and 2 of the original work. An attempt has been made in this work to assemble only legends for certain occurrences that are taught in history, like the story of Captain Smith and Pocahontas. The bibliography of American legends is slight, and these tales were gathered from diverse sources: records, histories, newspapers, magazines, oral narrative, in every case reconstructed.
