Moonlight at Mistawis

In late-1920s Canada, Valancy Redfern has come home to the island of Mistawis. After eighteen months of wandering the wider world with her beloved husband Barney, she is back where moonlight shines across the lake, loons call through the dusk and the lamps of their island home glow warmly amidst the pines.

Back in nearby Deerwood, meanwhile, Valancy’s cousin Olive Stirling has seen her carefully ordered future take an unexpected turn. Perfect, dutiful, beautiful Olive has always known exactly what her life ought to be – until suddenly she doesn’t. For the first time, she is forced to wonder whether the life everyone expects of her is really the life she wants.

And somewhere between Deerwood and Mistawis, two very different stories are about to become unexpectedly entwined.

Set after the events of L. M. Montgomery’s beloved 1926 novel The Blue Castle, Moonlight at Mistawis is an affectionate, independent sequel written in celebration of the original novel’s centenary – a warm, nostalgic and quietly hopeful story of courage, creativity and the happiness of finding one’s own way home.
