Miss Marjoribanks follows the exploits of its heroine, Lucilla Marjoribanks, as she schemes to improve the social life of the provincial English town of Carlingford. Lucilla is independent, wise and resourceful. She decides that at this point in life she is not interested in suitors but becomes a matchmaker for others.
