Meqabyan I–III is a new modern English translation with commentary of the three Books of Meqabyan from the Ethiopian biblical tradition.
These texts are not the Maccabees of the Greek canon and are not conventional historical accounts. Meqabyan confronts uncompromising themes: authority and rebellion, idolatry and faithfulness, martyrdom, judgment, and the resurrection of both soul and body.
For centuries, these books have remained largely inaccessible to Western readers, available only through fragmented, archaic, or poorly contextualized translations. This edition was created to address that gap.
Each chapter has been:
• translated into clear, modern, narrative English • formatted in continuous prose • for natural listening • preserved in its original theological weight and tone • accompanied by thoughtful commentary • designed to clarify the text without reshaping its meaning
The commentary is neither academic nor devotional. Its purpose is to guide modern listeners through the Ethiopian theological framework, symbolic language, and the internal logic of judgment, obedience, and resurrection.
This audiobook is ideal for listeners who:
• explore the Ethiopian biblical canon • have read The Book of Enoch • and seek deeper context • are interested in apocryphal scripture with real theological substance • value serious, coherent, and respectful editions of ancient texts
Meqabyan I–III is not casual listening.
It is a text that declares rather than comforts.
An essential work for anyone seeking to understand one of the most ancient and uncompromising biblical traditions.
