Mandodari Protects Sita

Mandodari was the daughter of Mayasur, the architect of demons and apsara Hema. She was as beautiful as her mother and Ravan wished to marry her as soon as he laid eyes on her.

Mandodari was aware of the shortcomings of her husband and always tried her best to convince him to follow the righteous path.

After Ravan kidnapped Devi Sita he tried to convince her to marry him. When devi Sita refused, he tried to convince her by threatening her and torturing her. When none of his tricks worked, in a fit of rage, Ravan decided to kill Devi Sita.

Mandodari could not see this happen and stood between his sword and Devi Sita, thus saving her life.
