Her father, incarcerated in the Marshalsea Prison in London due to his serious financial debts, is well cared for by the devoted Amy who, despite her hardships, retains a cheerful disposition. Through a series of strange events involving murky family secrets, Amy's life becomes entangled with a mysterious stranger. Soon enough, her circumstances are changed forever.
