This is a fascinating work, originally published in 1899 contains a collection of biographies and brilliantly entertaining anecdotes from the cream of the hunting elite in the United Kingdom during the Victorian period. Chapters include: The Fathers of Foxhunting, John Peel, Lord Forester, 'Nimrod' (Charles James Apperley), The Dukes of Rutland, George Lane Fox and The Masters of the Devon and Somerset, just to name a few. This fine work is still of great value and would be a wonderful addition to the historian of foxhunting. This work is being republished with a brand new introductory essay on Fox hunting.
