To build a better internet, we need to change how it is owned and organized. Otherwise, a small number of executives and investors will continue to make choices on everyone's behalf, and these choices will remain tightly bound by the demands of the market. It's time to demand an internet by, and for, the people now.

An eyeopening retrospective of the internet, calling into question the beast it is today, and hypothesizes what could be done to make it a more humane place. The book is inspiring and makes me want to take up activism. As a web-developer myself I have become acutely aware of what I am contributing to in my day to day, and I have begun to think about how I can contribute to the internet I would want it to evolve into.
