I Won’t Be Defeated is based on the true experience of one poet’s struggle with depression. After a life-altering car accident in 2002, Makesha Williams found herself at rock bottom. Slowly, with strength and an unwavering determination, she dragged herself out of the abyss and into the light. These poems share that journey in lyrical detail, from feeling invisible to witnessing God’s greatest miracle. With this collection, Makesha hopes to share the light with others going through their own dark times and assure them that everything gets better with God on your side.

About the Author: Makesha AC Williams, best known as Lil K, is a DJ, music producer, writer, and director. She believes music is essential to healing. Her mom and dad are her heroes.
