Hitting the Goal Line: A Hockey Romance

From the age of five, I knew one thing: Blake Jacobi was going to be in my life for a very long time.

For years, he was my protector, my best friend, my shoulder to cry on. I even followed him to Chicago when he got picked up by an NHL team. Then lines got blurred and we landed in each other's beds, but we were able to push feelings aside and not let a few little slips ruin our friendship.

At least, that's what I keep telling myself.

Somewhere along the line, I fell in love with my best friend, and as much as I want to tell him, I can't. All out of fear of losing him.

So I hold in those words and try to lose myself in relationships that I really shouldn't be in. But my efforts start to feel as if they are for nothing when Blake lands himself in a jail cell. All because of me.

Now those words that I've been wanting to tell him may never see the light of day.

Because after the night that we just had, I might have lost Blake for good.
