Such was my ignorance.

This blade has already cost me more than I can bear to speak of. I can’t even bring myself to draw it—not again.

I find myself a prisoner in the camp of General Sarus—a commander as cunning as he ruthless. I surrendered hoping he’d see my worth as a Nordic Princess and a shieldmaiden of high renown. But to him, I’m just a savage. I get two choices. Baptism or slavery.

But when we start marching north to contend with the Germanic Coalition, I start rethinking my decisions. Because if we meet who I think we will, my only hope of survival is Tyrfing—the blade that’s destroyed my family for generations.
