Hearts of the Blackbird: A High-Speed Spy Plane Romance

Caleb Hart spends most of his life above the clouds. From a remote flight-test base in the Nevada desert, the reconnaissance pilot flies the SR-71 Blackbird successor alone Mach 3 runs where silence keeps you alive and distance keeps things simple. No distractions. No attachments. After losing his wingman years ago, that rule never changes.

Then Elara Voss shows up in the briefing room. She’s sharp, upbeat, and far too curious for Caleb’s comfort. As the new intelligence analyst, she refuses to accept his clipped answers or the quiet walls he’s built around himself. Her questions slice through mission briefings. Her insights help save flights that might have gone wrong.

Soon they’re working together night after night. Mission maps glow across the table. Coffee steams beside stacks of reports. A glance lingers longer than expected. A moment in the simulator pushes them closer than either planned.

But the sky never ignores mistakes. During a high-risk reconnaissance run, danger closes in fast. Caleb realizes the threat isn’t only the missiles tracking him through the stratosphere it’s the possibility of letting someone share the life he’s kept locked away.

Secrecy, altitude, titanium skin, roaring engines. That’s the world he understands.

But flying alone may not be the safest choice anymore.
