Dan Shepherd stared at the canvas ceiling above his bed as the dawn light slowly strengthened. His tent was pitched on the edge of the airfield outside Sarajevo in Bosnia. 1995, and Dan “Spider” Shepherd is on active service as a paratrooper in war-torn Sarajevo.
