Wrong Romance

After divorcing Jessica, Chip finds that his ex-wife is more attracted to him than ever. He can’t keep her out of his bed. The sex is great, but she’s even more controlling after the divorce than when they were married.

Still, Chip can’t help himself. He feels guilt for having sex with Jessica. Guilt because she’s cheating on her new fiancé. Guilt because his new girlfriend doesn’t know.

“Next time you come to my place, we won’t have sex. You’ll keep your panties on.” I wasn’t at all confident in my will-power.

“Very funny.”

“Next time there won’t be a next time,” I said.

“Things are getting serious with Bill,” she said. It was an abrupt change in the conversation and caught me off guard.

“Billy the Boyfriend?” I asked. “How long has it been? We’ve been divorced a year and you’ve been dating him for six months? Yeah, I suppose that’s serious.”

“He’s moving in with me.”

I grimaced. “I should have seen that coming.”

“I’m moving on with my life. You should move on with yours.”

“If you’re moving on, why are you still having sex with me?” I asked her.

“This was a mistake.”

“I think that if you were happy with Billy, you wouldn’t be coming to my place to get laid.”

Jessica smiled at me and then abruptly slapped me across the face. It didn’t hurt, but I got the point.

“Right,” I agreed. “Next time I see you, we won’t have sex.”

She said nothing, threw open the door, and walked out of my life.

Again.

I knew she’d be back.
