Bullets in the Creek: A Novel of the Montana Gold Rush

JOHNSTONE COUNTRY. WHERE JUSTICE NEVER FLINCHES IN A SHOWDOWN.

In this action-packed adventure from bestselling Western legends William W. and J.A. Johnstone, a former scout strikes gold and trades lead with a corrupt sheriff’s band of outlaws.

The once prosperous town of Bannack in Montana’s mountain region has fallen on hard times. Too many miners staked claims and whatever gold is left is getting harder to find. Fewer customers have money to spend in the town’s businesses. Zach McKenna and Wink Clark do their best mining their vein beside Grasshopper Creek only to find they’re trying to get the proverbial blood from a stone.

Then the partners receive word of a major gold strike in Alder Gulch, a little stream off of Ruby River sixty miles northeast of Bannack. Prospectors and entrepreneurs alike have flocked to the area, building new lives for themselves in thriving boomtowns like Virginia City and Nevada City. It’s an opportunity McKenna and Clark can’t afford to miss.

But Sheriff Henry Plummer wants his share too. He and his outlaw gang, the “Innocents,” have taken Bannack for all its worth, leaving many dead miners in their wake. Now, he plans to relieve Alder Gulch’s miners of their riches too—unaware of McKenna’s past as a U.S. Army Scout and his reputation as one of the deadliest men in the West . . .
