An unexpected and devastating decision by a large Swedish company hits the owner of a major Munichbased supplier like a bombshell. In sheer desperation he hires a man with a criminal record to pressure the Swedish CEO into reversing the disastrous decision. Two months later a spectacular kidnapping takes place in broad daylight in central Gothenburg. But something goes terribly wrong, sparking a violenc car chase in pursuit of the perpetrators. The unknown culprits – narrowly escaping from getting caught – barricade themselves and their hostage in a secluded house managing to evade detection despite an intensive manhunt involving both the police and the public. The kidnapping stirs up intense emotions within a prominent Gothenburg family, who are faced with a demand for a massive ransom for the safe return of the abducted relative. Detective superintendent Carl Bergwall and his investigative team work under immense time pressure with the national task force also deployed to hunt down the perpetrators. A showdown seems imminent; the only question is where and how. As the moment for the hostage exchange approaches, it becomes a race against time for the police to rescue the hostage and apprehend the kidnappers.
