And the Lotus Shall Rise: My Journey Through Clergy Sex Abuse

Life seemed rocky from the start, and I prayed for love, acceptance, and to feel “special.”

Fr. Mark was an answered prayer who took me under his wing and into his world. But as one of the “chosen ones” I realized this was not an experience any child deserved. Years of sexual abuse along with decades of dysfunctional choices taught me one indelible fact: I was in charge of my life, and I needed and deserved to find peace. While the external world creates challenges, our inner world can and will be triumphant.

This riveting true story follows my journey of nearly 60 years, exploring how I learned to embrace my happiest life, even after enduring a painful and destructive past.

The Lotus Flower begins at the bottom of a dark murky pool and slowly bursts onto the surface as a beautiful, vibrant blossom. It is a symbol of enlightenment, overcoming difficulties, and accepting ourselves with value and appreciation.
