In this Thursday Q&A episode, we break down listener questions covering funnels, mock scrapes, late-season doe scouting, clearing shooting lanes, and aging deer. We dive into when (and when not) scrapes actually matter, how trail cameras can mislead you during the rut, and why deer movement often looks very different in real time than it does on camera.

We also talk through cold-weather rut behavior, hunting pressure, scent disturbance, and how to adjust your strategy as scraping activity dies off and chasing ramps up. Along the way, we share real-world observations from recent hunts and discuss why hunting the fringes and reading sign on the ground can be more valuable than relying solely on trail cam data.

761 - What Deer REALLY Do When Scrapes Go Cold | Listener Q&A

In this video, we sit down with our good buddy Scott Seales, who has been a big deer hunting mentor for us in the last few years! Scott's advice directly helped Jacob and Andrew tag their last two bucks, including Jacob's biggest Alabama buck to date! We start by going over how Jacob found the spot he hunted and tagged his big buck on a new-to-him piece of public land in Alabama. We then discuss why a lot of hunters have the skills they need to be successful, yet they still struggle. Scott goes over how he keeps things simple and explains where most guys go wrong when it comes to overthinking big bucks. 757 - Late-Season Deer, Vintage Guns, and Real Woodsmanship | LISTENER Q&A

DC Tabbscott has mastered the art of getting permission to hunt from landowners. His system works so well, that he was able to get permission to hunt a property to hunt a 170" Alabama buck, which he ended up tagging this past season! This buck was well known in the area and DC was able to get permission to hunt property that many other hunters had been denied permission to hunt. In this episode we do a deep dive into what it takes to get landowner permission to hunt, whether it is a small property that the owner lives on, a larger property with an absenttee landowner, or even lands owned by LLC's or corperations. DC breaks down why people fail at getting permission and shares the system that has become extremely effective for him.
