The Restless Dead: From Lord Halifax's Ghost Book

Charles Lindley Wood, 2nd Viscount Halifax, was a collector of supernatural ghost stories, many of which were sent to him in the form of letters recounting first hand experiences and others being stories which he happened upon in the journals of the day. This story was taken from Blackwood's Magazine for December 1892.

Two adventurers are hiking in the Australian outback, when they are surprised by a violent electrical storm one night. Sheltering near a spectacular waterfall, they both see a vision of a ghastly rotting corpse beckoning to them from within the falling water. They decide to explore and discover a cave which hides a most gruesome secret.
