#1 We met our Bedouin host Mohammad Abdallah, who took us to see his cave. It was very different from the Treasury and our previous night’s accommodations. It was almost square, with a low arched roof and a rough concrete floor.

#2 We went to the Monastery to see the sunset. It was cool now, and the Monastery sounded much more exciting than it had this morning. We couldn’t rest because we had to go back and see the sunset again.

#3 I had hitchhiked in New Zealand since I was about fifteen, and in the UK I had hitchhiked up and down the motorways time and again. I was looking for adventure, and I was finding it.

#4 We had been lucky to have had such a real Petra experience with the Bedouin. We met some people, saw the sunset, and slept in a cave. We didn’t need to see any more of the ruins pictured in the poorly spelled text of Mohammad’s book.
