President Donald Trump is set to outline his vision for rebuilding Venezuela’s battered oil sector Friday in a meeting with representatives from 17 energy companies, including crude producers, refiners and commodity traders.

Industry executives slated to attend the Friday afternoon meeting include both US oil majors — Chevron Corp. Exxon Mobil Corp. and ConocoPhillips — and smaller independent producers, including Continental Resources Inc. and Hilcorp Energy Co., a White House official said.

Moderate Republicans are nearing a deal to extend enhanced Obamacare tax credits that they say could pass the House and Senate.

House lawmakers will vote on a three-year clean extension later Thursday after Democrats and a handful of Republicans forced House leaders’ hands through a discharge petition. Senate negotiators expect to modify that bill and say they’re close on the specifics.

President Donald Trump said he would move to ban institutional investors from buying single-family homes, part of a push to address housing affordability ahead of this year’s midterm elections.

“People live in homes, not corporations,” Trump said in a social media post Wednesday announcing the effort, adding that he would expound on the plan at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, later this month.

The news sent shares of homebuilders, including Toll Brothers Inc., Invitation Homes Inc., KB Home and PulteGroup Inc., down. Shares of Blackstone Inc. — a major investor in single-family homes in the US —fell by as much as 9.3%, though later pared some of those losses.

President Donald Trump asked Secretary of State Marco Rubio to lead the process to implement economic and political reforms in Venezuela and the US believes it is getting “full, complete and total” cooperation from the government in Caracas after the capture of Nicolas Maduro, White House senior adviser Stephen Miller said Monday.

Trump requested Rubio “under the president’s close guidance and direction, to be the lead on this process,” Miller told reporters at the White House. The secretary of State will lead a team that includes officials working on energy, financial, and military policy, he added.

Trump Eyes Venezuela Oil Control

President Donald Trump said the US would run Venezuela until a transition could be organized, hours after a US operation captured leader Nicolás Maduro, ousting the strongman from power after months of mounting military and economic pressure on his regime.
“We’re going to run the country until such time as we can do a safe, proper and judicious transition,” Trump said Saturday at a press conference at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida. “So we don’t want to be involved with having somebody else get in, and we have the same situation that we had for the last long period of years.”
Trump said the US administration of Venezuela would include deploying US oil companies to the country, though indicated that his embargo “on all Venezuelan oil remains in full effect” and that US forces would stay on alert.
